Sleep for health

Every move we make causes us to spend a certain amount of energy – every thought we think squeezes a little life out of us.  This loss is partly made up by the food we eat, the fluid we drink and the air we breathe.  But it is chiefly during sleep that the life principle flows back into us – that our loss in energy is made good.

Loss of sleep decreases our resistance thus increasing our susceptibility to infections and all forms of dis-ease, lowering our vitality and increasing our nervous irritability, pushing us downward instead of onward and upward.

We need all the sound, restful, refreshing sleep we can get.  Sleep builds health – health brings wealth, beauty and happiness.

Did you know?  The first bed was a pile of leaves gathered under the protecting shelter of a ledge, or scooped into a corner of a cave.  The intent was the same as applies to the most elaborate and perfect resting place – favouring relaxation while leaving the circulation of the body unimpeded.  Hmm, I think I prefer a Sealy posture pedic.

It was during a very difficult period in my life when I began to suffer from insomnia. I went from 8 hours sleep a night down to about 3 hours of sleep. It affected every area of my life. Module 2, in the Foot Reflexology course, covers the symptoms and emotions that are a result of sleep deprivation. Loss of memory, concentration, susceptibility to injury and illness are just a few things one can except, in addition to what Jack has already mentioned. It doesn’t sound like such a big deal until you experience it for yourself. I’m very happy to say that I am sleeping quite well these days!
