Helping Reflexologists Gain More Abundance – Part 2 of 5

2. Are you a very good healer but need help with business/marketing skills?

You may have heard the saying ‘work on your business – not in your business’.  What this means is rather than doing everything yourself you set up business systems and procedures and train people to follow those systems in your business.  It truly is a false economy to think you can do everything yourself – and this will be the ceiling on your business if you harbour this limiting belief.  As the business owner – and yes, if you are taking money for your services you are running a business – you need to look at ways to leverage yourself.

This means, you do the work once – train someone or develop some marketing – and get paid for it indefinitely.  It’s also important that you learn how to develop a marketing system that delivers clients to you without having to worry about whether the phone is going to ring every day.

The first step is going from being a generalist in your healing field to being a specialist in a particular area. This will mean you can focus your marketing on reaching people with the problem you solve.  Do you specialize in your services – working with moms, seniors, children, back pain, athletes, women’s issues, and so on?

You will then be able to make intelligent decisions about the best medium (display ads, online ads, etc) to use to reach your clients and the best approach to take in your ads to connect with this target market.

    Hello Jack,
I was actually referring to the Yikes Good Friday! I said something like WOW! I heard it was going to get windy but you described it so well I felt like I was there. Sounds like a start to a book. Also it is probably not the last storm you’ll see. Really makes you think how you need to be prepared for such things. Luckily you said the power was out for 10 hours. What if it was out for 4 days, would you all be prepared. I sure wouldn’t but do think about such things.

  4. adminjack says:

    Hi Antoinette,
“Yikes” – It was quite the storm and it led to such a wonderful adventure for us, giving us valuable time to explore our amazing ecology here on Vancouver Island.

    Awesome

  6. Jan West-Balon says:

Definitely a focus on a “woman’s clinic” and “women’s issues” … special focus on mothers

  7. adminjack says:

    Great Jan.

  8. Darlene Sopyc says:

I never really gave much thought to specializing in one particular area. I best start thinking about it. Women or children…mmmm!

  9. adminjack says:

    Thanks Darlene,
It’s great food for thought isn’t it.
    Jack

  10. Amanda says:

i never really thought of marketing to a particular group-or addressing a particular issue. But that makes sense, advertise to be the solution to peoples needs.

  11. Mieke Goble says:

I would have to say that specializing in helping women of all ages would be the group that I would prefer to focus on. Speaking from personal experience, as well as the many complaints I hear from other women, our bodies undergo such tremendous changes throughout life that causes countless physical, mental and emotional problems, which can make life very challenging. It would be wonderful to offer treatments that will bring relief to women suffering from ailments including…
    - menstrual cramps
    - yeast and urinary tract infections
    - pregnancy and childbirth
    - Depression / SAD
    - PMS & Mood Swings
    - Menopause, Hot Flashes and other related symptoms
    - Insomnia & Chronic Fatigue
    - Breast, ovarian and cervical cancer
…just to name a few. Women have a lot to contend with in life, which requires their strength as well as ability to maintain their health and balanced lifestyle.

  12. adminjack says:

    Exactly, Amanda.
    Reflexologists are problem solvers.

    Hi Mieke,
Thanks for your great comments on this specialization issue.

i dont know that i could just specialize in one! i think everyone needs to have the opportunity of us helping them . if i had to narrow it down chidren/women my first pick s as they r the youngest and have their lives ahead of them and some deal with so much medical issues that could be helped by reflexology , then of course women because women go through so much mentally and physically i can speak from experience. thank u for taking the time to read my thoughts.

  15. Theodoros Piperis says:

The first thing I can do, is to go there, in a group, where 1)more problems there are 2) easier can move .
I suppose that for starting, is better to open with people that easier come in a reflexologist, because of is more opened mind such the women. Then <> the market you can localize the partial group. Another reason to start with women is, because the women have more helthy problems (either physical or neurological) and they start soon. Therefore, women the first target group could be, a good idea.
Thank you for the attention to help us so spferically as professionist. The best starting pass ist to open our mind putting several issues and you are doing.Make clear our way to success.
I am very appreciative for that!

    Hi Jack,

I`m just trying to catch up a bit now. I`ve been very sick the last few days AND I`m in the midst of final exams. Soooo….

I would like to explore the possibility of treating depression, manic-depression, and anxiety with reflexology. I haven`t yet done any research into the effectiveness of reflexology on depression, etc. of course.

The statistics are 5% of the Canadian population is depressed at any one time (age 12 and over). That`s a lot of people that can use help.

  18. adminjack says:

Hey David, great to hear from you. Hope your feeling better and did well on your exams. Interesting thought about specializing on depression. I’ve read research that contemplates depression to replace stress as the number one dis-ease factor in the not too distant future.
    Jack

  19. Betty says:

slowly getting caught up…………………will get there eventually!! I work 12h shifts so tend to be lazy on the days i’m working and often end up leaving town on my days off (I’m in Vancouver right now!)

I never really thought specifically about working with any particular age group other than adults as a whole. I had more thought about working with people to improve general over all health and stress reduction and eventually possibly for things like weight loss, smoking cessation, fertility, etc.

  20. tracy says:

i never thought about a specific group . Just helping to improve a person health @help reduce stress

  21. lorna says:

An understanding of demographics is vital to any
    business plan.

  22. adminjack says:

You’re so right Lorna. This is one of the primary keys to success.
    Jack
