There are many reasons people in the health and wellness industry do not have the abundance they would like. Each day I will cover one of these reasons in this 5 part series.
1. Do you hold a subconscious belief that being wealthy is not being spiritual?
This is perhaps the most common reason Reflexologists, Massage Therapists, Reiki practitioners and any number of Holistic practitioners find themselves struggling to earn a decent living whilst courageously helping others in their time of need. It’s been explained in several ways by a lot of marketing experts. So here is a new twist on this age-old problem. Many people in our industry have – at some level – harbour a belief that being wealthy is not spiritual. You may think that you have dealt with your abundance issues but have you really? Or are you still attracting scarcity and lack of abundance?
A good way to determine this is by asking yourself:
“Do I give out far more energetically than I allow myself to receive financially, spiritually and emotionally?”
You may feel a strong need to serve others rather than creating a successful business that serves you with abundant income.
This will manifest itself in stopping you charging what you’re worth, which while it might seem like the ‘nice’ thing to do at the time will ultimately lead to resentment, sickness and even ill health.
wow I never really looked at the picture that way, well at least that in depth but it does all make sense
Hi Teresa,
Thanks so much for your comments. You know, I truly believe that so many wonderful healers get caught up in their own internal conflict so that they really need to choose coaching to lead them onto a path of success.

A definite yes to the question “Do I give out far more energetically than I allow myself to receive? This is why I most recently left my last job. I feel so much stronger by the day for doing so. I left because I was exactly what the article said ” I was resentful, sick and in ill health. It is very empowering to know that wait a minute I can turn on a dime and change this path. I know everyone was surprised when I quit. Everyone is holding tight to their jobs their miserable in because their scared. I don’t believe that being wealthy is not being spiritual. If your wealthy and spiritual – fantastic. The money is in good hands!
Thank you for sharing your comments here, I know others will feel your energy.

1. Do you hold a subconscious belief that being wealthy is not being spiritual?
-Every individual is a node of energy. Giving out far more energy, receining the same -in many ways, forms etc. Therefore every reflexologist shoud make clear in his/her self this basic, global and unalterable rule.
So to be welthy, it has to do with quontity of activity (not ever) and to be a spiritual being, it has to do with the quolity of the same activity!
Hi Theodoros,
You live in a creative land overflowing with the energy of wisdom from many of the world’s greatest philosophers. Your words evoke this wonderful wealth of knowledge. Thanks for your comments.

“you may feel the strong need to serve others rather than creating a successful business”
This really hit home to me, and that is the type of person I am, to serve but not receive in the end. This article was very helpful in making me realize that as much as it’s nice to serve,( which I still will at times) it’s important for me to be successful ( and spiritual:))
This is a concept that has captured my attention in the last year. We are bombarded in the daily news with stories of greed for money and it doesn’t feel very spiritual. I believe that if your heart is in the right place, you are doing what you love, and you are open to receive all the blessings that come with it, the abundance will come as well.
Hi Heather,
I’m glad you had a chance to digest this information and how it can play a major role in your success.

I have another business (distantly associated with healing) that showed me a little of this reluctance to charge enough for my work. I’ve been running it for about 7 years now and am learning that what I offer is worthy. It takes time. Bringing the thought to the forefront of our minds really helps:)
One of the things that helps me is thinking about how I feel when I pay for services. I’m quite happy to pay my accupunturist the going rate for a treatment.
Great article Jack. I feel the same way Heather does. It’s as if being a care-giver/healer means to always ‘give’ and never receive. This is not at all helpful to a persons well-being. It is okay to receive as well and is, in a lot of cases, absolutely necessary in order to obtain balance within oneself. This article hits the right reflex point with me and is so true!
Great article Jack.
Hi Heather
Thanks for the insightful response. It’s important to know that the most important person in your Reflexology sessions is you! That’s right – you!
Just think if you get caught up in your client’s “stuff” and keep giving to others without receiving yourself, it won’t take long till you become tired, cranky, out of sorts, sick, stressed and then what good are you. Too sick and tired to take care of yourself and guess what? Too stressed to help others. Which is why you got into this profession.

Hi Heather G.
You’re so right! The media blasts us with bad news and fear mongering. Inviting us to feel less than we really are.
It’s really important to be open for what the universe has available to us. And, when it provides us with an opportunity then we need to act on it to receive it.
Jack
Hi Henriette,
Great stuff! When we receive bills we delight in paying them. We let the universe know that we enjoy being in a position to pay the bills. On the other hand, those who regret bills and wonder how they are going to pay for them send out the energy of bills and sure enough they keep receiving them. Another topic, and a fascinating one.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for participating in this matter. Ever notice how so few of us are able to gracefully accept a compliment? So often, we find a way to lower ourselves rather than to meet our higher self and simply respond with a “Thank you”.
Jack
Thanks Tracy!

This is something that many of us can struggle with. I believe that a reasonable price that will afford the practitioner a decent lifestyle is where I would lean to. Making money at what you’re good at should not reflect a lack of spirituality but some do feel that way that’s so true. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for your comment, Bernadette.
Just the other day at a party, I spoke with a massage therapist who admitted she sometimes elects not to remind a client about the bill because of her fear of how they will react to her. Result, she sometimes works for free.
Can you imagine if your employer failed to pay you for the work you had done??!! I bet in that case she wouldn’t hesitate to complain.

By learning to recieve wealth and prosperity we are
actually assisting others in learning how to give.
Giving leads to recieving, giving leads to forgiving,
forgiving leads to healing. An engergy flow is
established – This is true prosperity.
Hi Lorna,
Thanks for sharing some great thoughts!
