Airport Reflexology

Years before becoming a Reflexologist, I was considered a world authority on retailing of airports.  In this regard I lectured to Canadian municipal and international governments about the huge economic opportunities for them to cash in on via the bustling terminal activity in their huge lumps of airport real estate.  One of my projects was consulting on the huge retail expansion to Vancouver’s airport.

Soon after becoming a Reflexologist I created a unique turn-key wellness devepment proposal which included a Reflexology Salon in the newly expanded Vancouver International airport.  I presented this to our local Reflexology community.  In my opinion it was a refreshing opportunity to put Reflexology on the map and create an excellent income stream for all participating Reflexologists.  Imagine my shock when every one of the Reflexologists declared disinterest in this project.  I am a merchant of success and nothing in my business background prepared me for such a complete lack of interest in such a great business opportunity.  Later I discovered that Reflexologists for the most part struggled terribly with entrepreneurship and business acumen and for the most part preferred their Reflexology as more of a hobby than an actual business.  Ever since I have been coaching Reflexologists on entrepreneurship.  So today, over 15 years later, I was thrilled to read this wonderful testimonial about Airport Reflexology in Mumbai -

“Shooting for Super Singer for even a couple of days without respite makes me wish that I were in a place where this Reflexology spa is located. Or rather there is a place here with hands that have such expertise. Mom has always praised the masseurs of Mumbai saying that, amongst other skills, this is one thing they are really good about.

I happened to visit Mumbai for a day in the recent past and I came back to the airport in good time. And the flight was delayed. I couldn’t think of anything else to do but pick up a couple of the local dailies and a coffee at Coffee Day. Then decided to take a walk around to see this reflexology center huddled in a corner. I ventured inside and took the bait. Read the rest of this entry »

THE PERFECT HUSBAND

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club.   A cellular phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands-free speaker function and begins to talk.   Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

MAN: ‘Hello’
WOMAN: ‘Honey, it’s me.  Are you at the club?’
MAN: ‘Yes’
WOMAN: ‘I am at the shops now and found this beautiful leather coat.  It’s only $2,000. Is it OK if I buy it?’
MAN: ‘Sure, go ahead if you like it that much.’
WOMAN: ‘I also stopped by the Lexus dealership and saw the new Models. I saw one I really liked.’
MAN: ‘How much?’
WOMAN: ‘ $90,000′
MAN: ‘OK, but for that price I want it with all the options.’
WOMAN: ‘Great! Oh, and one more thing…the house I wanted last year is back on the market. They’re asking $980,000′
MAN: ‘Well, then go ahead and give them an offer of $900,000. They will probably take it. If not, we can go the extra 80 thousand if it’s really a good deal.’
WOMAN: ‘OK. I’ll see you later! I love you so much!’
MAN: ‘Bye! I love you, too.’

The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths agape.

He turns and asks: ‘Anyone know who this phone belongs to?

Vampires aren’t just Bats!

Notice the tv listings these days are loaded with “Vampires”?  What’s that all about?  When I was a child there was only one vampire – Count Dracula – played by the ultimate scary guy Christopher Lee.  Of course in those days it was an age-restricted movie for over 18 only.  My buddies and I snuck in pretending to be family members with the adults in-line ahead of us.  Even today when this dated version of Dracula plays on the old movies channel I’m reluctant to watch it.

Well, there’s an even scarier vampire out there waiting to feed off you right now.  And, worst of all, it is so well disguised you wouldn’t even know it was a vampire if it was standing right in front of you.  Got your attention? Read the rest of this entry »

Crystal Healing & Reflexology

Crystals are a regular part of modern society.  Technology uses crystals to emit energy in clocks, lasers, liquid crystal display screens, transistors, computer chips, satellites and many other devices.  Did you know that some Holistic practitioners direct the energy from crystals for healing?

Universal College of Reflexology offers an outstanding introduction to crystal healing in its Vibrational Medicine distant learning faculty.  Crystal Healing intends to share crystal information that can be used during a crystal healing session or combined with a Reflexology or Reiki session to the benefit of the client and Reflexology or Reiki practitioner. It will give you an overall view of the many, many ways that crystals can help on the road to wellness.  Here are some of the highlights of this fascinating program

Reflexologists Needed for study

Australian University investigating CAM

The Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Economics, Lifestyle and Other Therapeutic approaches for chronic conditions (CAMELOT) study, at Monash University, is investigating the use of complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) and chronic disease self-management among people with Type 2 diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease.

The focus of this research study is to determine the influences, costs and benefits of CAM use.  The initial phase of this study indicated that the participants recruited have not previously visited CAM practitioners.  So CAMELOT is now recruiting CAM practitioners to assist in this study.  Reflexologists in Australia are encouraged to recruit consumers who meet the following criteria:

  1.  have been diagnosed at least 12 months ago with Type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease;
  2.  have consulted any sort of CAM or integrative practitioner to assist in the management of their chronic illness or health more generally;
  3.  speak fluent English.

Practitioners’ treatments will not be evaluated or critiqued by the researchers who are looking more generally at consumer actions and preferences.

To contact the researchers go to www.camelot.monash.edu.au for more information or email rachel.canaway@med.monash.edu.au

Studies show MSG fed Mice became Grossly Obese

Have you noticed when eating out at some restaurants, particularly those offering Chinese food served with MSG, tht you feel ill.  Me too!  Well, read this report…

In 1968 Dr. John Olney started conducting experiments on mice using MSG. (Mice are frequently used as test animals because they react most like humans to MSG.) Obsessed with the microscopic changes in the brains of the mice he overlooked something quite dramatic first noticed by his assistant. She pointed out to him that all of the mice were grossly obese. At first he thought it was just a fluke, but as the experiment progressed Read the rest of this entry »

U.K. Millionaire to Move to Mud Hut

Business tycoon to sell house, start charity in Africa

A 41-year-old millionaire businessman who nearly died in a car crash eight years ago is leaving behind his exquisite 16th-century farmhouse and lavish lifestyle to move to a mud hut in Uganda and start a children’s charity.

Jon Pedley plans to sell his telecommunications businesses, a $1.5 million Essex farmhouse with a 1-acre garden and his furniture to raise cash for African orphans, the U.K. Daily Mail reported Wednesday.

His charity, Uganda Vision, will send troubled British children to Uganda where they will help locals orphaned by AIDS and poverty.

The self-made tycoon has a troubled past that includes a criminal record, alcoholism and affairs. He says a serious car crash in 2002 in which he almost died led him to find God. Read the rest of this entry »

Disadvantages of Home-Based Business

It’s easy to list the advantages of running a home-based business: low overhead, no commute, and creating a more flexible lifestyle.

But when you live and work under the same roof, there are also are a number of disadvantages with which to contend: your children storming into the office, having to answer the door, and resisting the lure of that mid-afternoon nap. Read the rest of this entry »

Advantages of Home-Based Reflexology Practice

Many Reflexologists appreciate working in a home office clinic.  This allows for flexibility in working hours especially if you’re raising children in your home.  You can use your time productively, scheduling home duties and work duties around each other.  And, hey the commute well what can I say – it’s short.  Read the rest of this entry »
