6 Reasons to Choose Alternative Medicine – Parts 4/5

This comparison between Alternative and Conventional medicine is loaded with quality sound-bites.  Read this.

4. Because alternative medicines stress change, doctors work on guiding people towards their health “destination”. Doctor-patient relationships are like a brotherhood. Conventional medicine, however, is something indoctrinated by research, mostly backed by drug companies. Therefore conventional doctors are commanders on the war against diseases. A conventional doctor acts like God in a white gown. He is the one who determines life or death for patients.

5. Because we are composed of body and mind, self-healing needs the adjustment of both, the mind is the master who controls the body. Therefore, alternative medicines consider that mind power plays the major role. It makes up more than 50% in the healing process. If we enhance the patient’s mind power, spontaneous healing may occur occasionally. Conventional medicines put a very low value on mind power. The highest role of the mind in conventional medicines is just a supportive factor in the area of psychiatry.

6 Reasons to Choose Alternative Medicine – Parts 2/3

Alternative Medicine is the Medicine of Independence.

2. The principal idea of alternative medicines is self-healing. What an alternative doctor does is helping patients correct internal and external factors for self-healing. Conventional doctors, however, have never realised the power of self-healing and believe in human intervention. Therefore, drugs are the powerful weapons of conventional medicines.

3. Alternative medicines stress self-reliance. Therefore, along the way to healing, people should change their lifestyle and eating habits. It is the medicine of independence, whereas the conventional medicines are those of dependence. With conventional medicine, people rely totally on hospitals and drugs all their lives.

Thanks Dr. Banchob for these statements.  What a great description and comparison - Alternative medicine (and in this context Alternative medicine includes Complementary medicine known as CAM in the western world) is the medicine of independence.  Hey believers, write that down – Alternative medicine is the medicine of Independence.

And then write this down – Conventional medicine is the medicine of Dependence.

6 Reasons to Choose Alternative Medicine – Part 1.

Why conventional practices have been overtaken by a more holistic approach

The year 2010 means the end of the Millennium’s “Naughties”.

excerpts from a written report to the Bangkok Post by Dr. Banchob Junhasavasdikul

The past decade has brought about many changes to the lifestyles of people throughout the world, including how they view medical treatment.

So it’s no wonder the Millennium has become an era of alternative medicine, where holistic treatment has gained the upper hand over conventional treatment.

In 2000, there was a study comparing alternative treatment and conventional treatment. The researcher asked people which they chose first when they got sick and how much they paid for their treatment.

It was revealed people opted for alternative medicine three times more than conventional medicine, while the expense of conventional medicines was 10 times higher than that of alternatives. Read the rest of this entry »

Jeans and T-shirt?

My pet peeve in Reflexology.

I just can’t stand it.  Working as a professional Reflexologist in jeans and a t-shirt doesn’t cut it with me.

It all started with “Casual Friday” in the business world.  A special day created for the white collar group allowing us a more casual dress for Fridays.  In other words instead of wearing a two or three piece suit for the men they could wear slacks and a blazer or sports coat with sports shirt or turtle neck.  Pants and shirt were expected to be ironed and clean.  For ladies they could switch to a skirt and blouse or other clean and appealing clothes as opposed to a more formal pant suit or dress.  Somehow people continued down the slippery slope all the way to jeans and a t-shirt.  Have you noticed how most corporations abandoned “Casual Friday” now?

Remember first impressions mean everything.  We at the Universal College of Reflexology require students to follow dress code – white lab jacket, dark pants or skirt and clean white shirt or blouse.  This gives an immediate professional image.

Come-on Reflexologists and other health care professionals wear appropriate attire.  It truly makes a difference.

Cocoa next “Wonder Drug” for High Blood Pressure

Could hot cocoa be the next “wonder drug”
for high blood pressure?

Harvard researchers praise stunningly simple discovery!

Are you kidding me?

According to recent estimates, nearly 1-in-3 American adults has high blood pressure. But for the Kuna Indians living on a group of islands off the Caribbean coast of Panama, hypertension doesn’t even exist. In fact, after age 60, the average blood pressure for Kuna Indian islanders is a perfect 110/70.

Whoa – did you read this correctly – nearly 1 in 3 American adults has high blood pressure?  We need to look into this further.  Let’s do some research on Reflexology and blood pressure numbers before and after a session. Read the rest of this entry »

Income Power Shifts to Working Wives

Great news for Reflexologists.  Why?  Because 95% of our Reflexology students are women.

A study of married couples in the US has revealed that the proportion of wives earning more than their husbands has risen more than five-fold since 1970.  (Pew Research Centre, Washington, DC)

This shift follows a reversal in patterns of education today.  A majority of wives are as well, or better educated, than their husbands.

In 1970 just 4% of US wives earned more than their husbands.  However, this percentage jumped all the way to Read the rest of this entry »

Pursuing the Wrong Clients

This is a major pit than many Reflexologists fall into – contraindicating a successful Reflexology business.  When I ask Reflexology business owners who their ideal client is, how many times have I heard “Oh, I’m here for everybody.”  It’s Reflexologists with this philosophy who always attempt to sell Reflexology.  It just doesn’t work.  The  truth is, most people don’t care about Reflexology.
